Last Saturday I went to the exhibition of Grace Kelly in Palace Het Loo in Apeldoorn. Together with my mother- and sister-in-law. The exhibition was called “Grace Kelly, princess & style icon”.
I had such a lovely day! The sun was shining, but it was cloudy as well!
I am sorry that I am too late with this post, but I also had to do some research about this exhibition and palace!
The Exhibition: “Grace Kelly, princess & style icon”
This beautiful building was the first I saw. This is from the front. At first we went to the Exhibition of Grace Kelly. This Exhibition is about her life as a hollywoodstar and how she became the princess of Monaco.
Dresses
Grace Kelly was a very beautiful woman with such a lovely style. She loved fashion very much. A style icon! I love her style very much. Classic, but adventures. As she becomes older she developed her style in an more adult way. And she had to, because she became a princess.
This was dress was one of her dresses she worn when shooting a movie. I don’t remember anymore from which movie this dress was.
There were lots of other beautiful dresses she worn in this exhibition, but I might not take any pictures in this exhibition. Such a shame. I truly wanted to show you more pictures…
I have seen dresses from Mogambo, Dial M for Murder, To Catch a Thief, The Swan and High Society.
There was also the dress Grace Kelly worn to the Oscars for the leading part in The Country Girl.
I have seen the silk gown from ‘The Swan’; this is the only picture I could take, because the security woman told me not to take any pictures.
They showed the dress from To Catch a Thief.
Bathing robe in High Society:
The next dress was beautiful to see. They have a replica at the exhibition:
And of course, the replica of her wedding dress of the wedding of the century. A beautiful dress with silk taffeta, rose-point lace and pearls.
She worn outfits from designers such as Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, Cristóba Balenciaga, Hubert de Givenchy, Jean Barthet, Helen Rose, Madame Grès and Edith Head.
Her hair magician was Louis ‘Alexandre’ Raimon. He is also the hair magician of princess Beatrix of The Netherlands.
Grace Kelly worn a creation from Andre Levasseur of silk tulle gold thread, sequins and beads with a white aigrette during the European Room at the Monte Carlo Casino. The creation was executed by Irene Gilbert Dublin.
Jewellery
She worn the collier Revière from Milimoto. And other jewellery from such as Patek, Latounis, Harry Winston, Alice Delima, and much more.
Quotes
Quotes from Grace Kelly I have seen on the wallet during this exhibition:
“I rebelled against my family and the whole structure of my society. I was the weaker member in a strong family. To find out who I was, I had to get away. So I went to New York to study and enter the theatre. But I didn’t try to destroy anything.”
“When I married Prince Rainier, I married the man and not what he represented or what he was. I fell in love with him without giving a thought to anything else.”
Quote from Prince Rainier III of Monaco I have seen on the wallet during this exhibition:
“Grace would have loved to run off and be married in a simple little chapel in the mountains. This unrealistic idea really enchanted me.”
Some videos for this exhibition
Vogue
She has been on the cover of the British Vogue in 1972.
The restaurant
After this exhibition we went to the restaurant for a break. It was a good decision. They have such lovely things on their menu. Really royalty.
We all three drank fresh mint tea as well. A good taste. It was worth it. This lovely chocolate came with the fresh mint tea. This has a good taste. It has one of the royals on the chocolate.
I had eclair: three chocolate and banana eclairs. They had such lovely taste. Sweet, but too sweet.
My mother-in-law tasted this beautiful muffin. They call it: “Muffins aux myrtilles”.
The Garden
Palace Het Loo has such a beautiful garden. You will see an impression of the garden. You really should go and visit when you’re in The Netherlands. I was without words when entering the garden. Such a beautiful place to come and rest.
Inside The Palace
Some properties of the Dutch Royals:
I don’t know everything anymore, but I hope you got an idea what it was and how it is. So, I say, it is worth it.
